EVENT: WAO Summit, Wanaka, Oct 26 - 31st
Our Kaiwhakahaere Fi is off to Wanaka! Fi will be lending her voice to speak at the WAO Summit which is a six-day annual event that aims to inspire, educate and dive into all things Zero Waste. Res.Awesome and the team behind the WAO summit are here to help Aotearoa reduce waste and become home to thriving carbon zero communities.
Fi is stoked to join the team at the WAO summit in our shared kaupapa; to empower people on their journey towards raising awareness about climate justice and facilitating community collaboration all over Aotearoa. We are living through a period of massive change which has been influenced by the threats of climate change, the economic pressures suffered by many and the measures taken to mitigate the impact of COVID-19. This time throws many challenges our way along with many opportunities for positive change!
EVENT: ‘Closing the Loop’ Zero waste Network Aotearoa
Speaking up for the environment comes naturally to Res.Awesome’s Fiona Clements and some may even say it runs in the family. With Fiona’s Dad acting as the Chair of Dunedin’s Habitat for Humanity, an environmental advocate and role model was never far away. For many years, Fi’s father worked on the frontlines of community building projects, striving to create new and innovative ways to repurpose materials. The father and daughter duo share the same goal of reducing waste and protecting our environment. In Fi’s family home, countless hours have been spent discussing the details of waste minimisation and resource recovery. The support felt in this space inspired Fi. Today, she uses her voice to empower the people of Dunedin to take the matter of climate change into their own hands.
