Yes, that’s right we are up-cycling some of Dunedin Cities street flags from Stitch Kitchen’s stash to make reusable bin liners for community events. We are making these because we are currently using wool sacks and these take $40ea of time to clean + scrub properly to make them reusable, this is unaffordable for community events, and we still want to provide this service to you.

We are making a set of 100 large bags to begin with and need to unpick 167 flags to do that, So we are hosting some

Unpicking Parties next week

Our commitment to Zero Waste goes beyond just helping you manage your waste streams it also encompasses creating enabling infrastructure for our communities to do better.

This means we can reduce our cities plastic waste to landfill together by replacing black bag bin liners with these reusable prototypes. But we need your help to un-pick these street flags so we can do that.

Every bin liner made will be one less plastic bag in our landfill. These bags can be reused over and over again. They will become part of Res.Awesome’s zero waste event management strategy.

These bags will be easily washed which makes them ideal for reuse, and if your wondering about the microfibres these might create, we use Stop Microfibre Waste Guppy Friend bags from Langbrett Berlin, we will have these available for purchase from our website soon, so sign up to our mailing list below to find out when they drop.

Plant based kai and tea will be provided and a fun atmosphere. No previous experience needed, if you can hold a pair of scissors you can certainly do this job. NOTE: we are working with sharp objects such as snips and quick un picks, All welcome.

Come along on Friday 20th August 10am - 4pm or Saturday 21 1pm - 4pm.

If you want any more information, please send me a message to info@resawesome.nz

plant based kai

Nourishing our bodies with plant based kai and reusing our scraps to make soil via the compost is one of the best things we can do for our environment.

Do you compost?
